Happy Anniversary to Us!!!

I can't believe it has been a year already! Wow, time flies. We have had a really great anniversary weekend. Friday night we went to Jared and I got something sparkly for my anniversary gift! It is a gorgeous vintage inspired cushion-cut amethyst ring. I was trying to find a picture of it to post on here, but they don't have it on their website. I goes really nicely with my wedding set. I love it!

Our dinner last night at The Magnolia Thomas House was fantastic! They did a great job on the rebuild. The food was great. We even had the same crab cakes they served at our wedding :) After dinner we wen to Publix and got cake slices (we didn't freeze our topper) and came back home. We drank champagne out of our toasting flutes and ate our cake and had a wonderful evening! Today is our actual anniversary, but it as been like a 3 day celebration!

Yesterday we went an picked out or storm door. Brian has been installing it for most of the day. It is so nice. The natural light that we get now is unbelievable. The only windows we have on the front side of our lower level are the sidelights next the the door, so it is a MAJOR improvement. We also got paint to re-do the upper half of our master bedroom walls. When we moved in 2 years ago we jumped the gun on painting and we have never really been able to find any bedding that we like that matches the paint. The top half was a really pretty light blue and the bottom was chocolate brown. Now the top half is being repainted in a light khaki-type of color called Sandstone Cove. We painted a color swatch on the wall before we bought the full sized can. I think it is going to look nice, and since it is more neutral, we will have more bedding options. I saw a set that I liked in the Macy's sale ad for this week. I think we will go check it out. We are both super-picky when it comes to bedding. So hopefully I will like it in person. They have it with pink sheets in the picture, but obviously we would go with something more neutral.

So Cute!!

How cute are these?! I love them! I was looking at the HGTV website (I love the Rate My Space section) and I saw these in a nursery on there. I googled the description and found the company that makes them. They are from a company called Doodlefish Kids. The pictures are priced at $189 each, whew! Steep! I think I could probably paint somehthing close to this easily. The frames are what really make it. That could be done too. All-in-all, an easy project when the time comes! Rate My Space is full of so many great ideas. We have a couple of rooms from our own house on the site.

We are so excited because Brian put in a bid on a pretty big job and they accepted it! Finally! He has actually been super busy lately so we can finally get a little relief from the month-to-month stresses that come along with having a household were one person is self-employed. Yay! I am fairly confident that we will be getting a storm door for our anniversary gift to each other since everything worked out. We have been wanting one so bad and it will be a nice practical gift.

I think that in addition to our anniversary dinner plans on Saturday night, we will be going to the Virginia Highlands Summerfest this weekend. We have wanted to go for the last couple of years, but there was always something else going on the same weekend, like our wedding :) Not quite sure if we will go on Saturday or Sunday. I'm thinking Saturday so we are not so rushed to get back for our reservations at 7pm. Either way, it is shaping up to be a good weekend!

HOT!

Wow... summer is most definitely here! It has been SO hot the last few days. It's only the beginning of June, so it will only go up from here. Brian has been crazy busy lately. The calls just keep coming in. It's great because we really need it!

So, this Sunday is our 1 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe it has been a year already. Time really flies. It seems like yesterday. We are going to the Magnolia Thomas House for dinner on Saturday night. They catered our wedding so it should be really nice. The restaurant just re-opened on May 15th. There was a fire last year about 6 weeks before our wedding. I just checked out the new menu online and it looks like they have the crab cakes we had at our wedding, yum! Check out the website, http://www.magnoliathomas.com

I am really looking forward to it! That's all we have planned for now, but who knows, the hubby may surprise me :)

Lazy Sunday

Well today has been moderately productive. We slept in until around 10am and then puppy was ready to get up. Having Gizmo is perfect practice for when we have a baby one day lol. I colored my hair and Brian has been working on projects around the house. This sinus thing I have going on is getting really annoying. I finally broke down and took a Mucinex this morning. I hate that stuff, but I had to try something. Brian and I went to dinner with his sister, her husband and the kids last night. It was a nice visit. We went to Sweet Tomatoes. It was alright, they were crazy busy. After that I talked Brian into going to Babies 'R Us. I wanted to show him the different things we would need to get when baby time comes around. I pretty much just wanted to go look at all the cute stuff :) I have been super tired all weekend. I feel like I want to take a nap right now (here's to hoping there a reason for it!!). I have been downloading new tunes for my iPod a lot lately. My fav thing I have downloaded lately is the Ben Folds cover of Tiny Dancer. SO good!

Well, that's all for now. I need to run out to Walgreens and pick up some pictures that have been waiting for me for about 2 weeks, oops!

I look at baby stuff too much lol

I really love this fabric! I think it is so cute! I found a really cute bedding set online, but it is way expensive. My mom is crafty -- I think she could make it! Who knows though, I see so much stuff online that I like. There are just some great ideas out there. I'm not really into the babies 'r us pre-packaged look. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some cute themes. I just want something different when we have a baby. I have a lot more ideas for a girl nursery than for a boy nursery. I can't imagine how tricky it will actually be to pick when we get to that point lol.

Guess what???

We are trying to have a baby! The decision to start trying came out 6 weeks ago. We have been seriously talking about it since January and finally decided that the time had come. Why were we waiting anyway?? I have been doing a lot of reading over the last few months. Both online and in actual books. My reading list has consisted of:

- Getting Pregnant by Neils Lauersen
- Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Tony Weschler
- Plan to Get Pregnant by Zita West
- Before Your Pregnancy, A 90 Day Guide by Amy Ogle & Lisa Maazzullo

I liked the 1st and 3rd books the best. The 3rd one was really great. It had a lot of good information laid out in quick-reference tables. I have gone back to it quite a few times. Of course there is plenty of repetitive info in these books and online, so you can really only read so much.

Another "fun" thing I have been doing is trying out different prenatal vitamins. Believe me, it was far from fun, haha! The first brand I was taking I just picked up at the grocery store. They were just the generic Publix brand. I had a lot of nausea with those if I didn't eat directly after taking one. When I went to my OB-GYN to have a check up and talk to them about trying to conceive the midwife gave me samples of a few different vitamins to try. Natelle Plus DHA was pretty good. I didn't have any nausea, but I didn't like that there were 2 different pills to keep up with. Natelle Ez made me super nauseated and it smelled terrible, so I only took that for 2 days. Prenate DHA was by far the best. It had the same benefits as Natelle Plus DHA but in one tablet and the coating on them actually smells good (for a vitamin). I had my doctors office call in a prescription, I just have to go pick them up.

I have also been doing a lot of looking at names online. Brian is such a good sport about me showing him a million names every night! We are agreeing for the most part, so that's a good thing. We have a boy name picked out and a few girl names that we like too -- I won't share those until we are actually pregnant :)

Well that's all for now! Brian and I will be updating this page as often as we can!
