Long Day

So today has been the worst day by far. I got nauseous super early today. I had to stop half way through getting readyfor work this morning and go eat peanut butter toast. The drive to work was so bad that I went to Publix and get saltine crackers at 7:30 this morning. I decided to try them and they actually kind of helped. I felt terrible for the first hour and half of my work day then I started feeling pretty good. By the time lunch came around I was so hungry and I was craving Moe's. I got some nachos. Apparently, that was not a good idea. I got more sick than I have gotten to this point. I felt terrible and I just wanted to go home a crawl under a blanket and go to sleep. Now that I am at home and have eaten dinner I feel a little better.

Weekend

Why do the weekends have to go by so darn fast?? Yesterday we had our gathering. It ended up being just a handful of us, but we had a nice time. Sometimes the smaller groups end up being more fun. Today we had to go by Babies 'R Us to pick up registry cards for the shower I am throwing for Shoshanna and of course we walked around and looked at stuff for us :) We found two cribs that we really liked. I think that one of them could end up being our pick. The prices weren't too bad either, all things considered. They are both better looking in person than they are in the online pictures.

6 weeks!

Today started out as the worst day yet, symptom-wise. I was super tired when I got up this morning. I pretty much felt like a zombie. Getting ready this morning was slow-going because of that. While I was getting ready for work I ate my usual morning wheat toast, I had some grapes on the way to work and I had a lemon yogurt when I got to the office. The lemon yogurt did not go over well at all. Bleh. I won't be eating that again any time soon. Later, after lunch, I got nauseous again. I went to Walgreen's and got some ginger gum. Let me tell you, that stuff works wonders. Most of the time after I eat I feel like my stomach is doing back flips. This gum made that stop. Amazing! It is REALLY spicy and kind of burns your tongue when you first start chewing it, but it is so worth it. I have a feeling I will be going to bed early tonight. I am really glad tomorrow is Friday. This week seemed really long and short at the same time. Brian is done with his big job he was doing so he should be getting the final pay out next week, yay!

First Appointment

Well, this is the first ultrasound picture of our baby. I know what you are thinking... "where?" See that eggplant-shaped white area with black in the middle near the top-center part of the picture?? That's it! It's the yolk sac, doesn't look like much right now, but the tech assured me that everything is on track for how early I am (5 weeks, 4 days). They scheduled another appointment for me on July 3rd for another ultrasound so we can see a heartbeat.
I think I will feel a lot better after that. I am just so nervous for some reason.

Happy Father's Day!

We went to my dad's house today to celebrate father's day with him. We were so ready to tell my dad about the baby. When we got there I almost immediately had him open his presents, knowing I wouldn't be able to wait. There were two gift bags. In the first bag, Brian & I gave him a wedding album and I this book I had made for him with pictures my grandmother gave me of my dad growing up. He loved them. In the second bag, there was a framed picture of me and my dad from the wedding and in the bottom of the bag was the "I Love Grandpa" bib. When he read the front of the bib his eyes got huge and he said "WHAT?!?!" Then he hugged my and started crying. It was so sweet. Jeremy made a video of it that I will post as soon as I get it from him. All in all, it was a great day!

On a side note, I have figured out that eggs trigger nausea and strawberries bring on heartburn hardcore. So needless to say, I will be skipping those two foods for a little while!

You know you're pregnant when...

You cry in the greeting card isle at Target. I was getting a father's day card for my dad and I also wanted to pick up a card for Brian. They had these really cute/sweet Daddy-to-be cards and I was getting all teary-eyed reading them. Ah, hormones :)

I can't believe today was Friday. This week went by fast, all things considered. I made it through without telling anyone at work. I am so proud of myself! I can't believe I didn't let it slip. Now I am just looking forward to Sunday. Then we get to tell my dad!

FYI - No nausea today, only a little heartburn!

5 weeks!

Awesome. The symptoms keep coming! I got sick again today after lunch. My worst time of day so far is between 10:30 - 2pm. I have been getting nauseous a lot around that time everyday. It's like clock work. I am having some heartburn right now. I think I have been eating too much spicy stuff. I am so ready to tell my dad. I can't wait until Sunday! My mom thinks that he is going to cry like a baby lol. I can't wait to see his reaction :) I am also ready to tell everyone at work. It is soooo hard trying to wait until after Monday. I am just ready to go to this appointment! I guess I should really get used to the idea of waiting though, this baby is going to take 35 more weeks to bake :)

The sickness continues

Hopefully it won't be like this everyday, haha! I had an episdode of queasiness this morning around 10:30am and it ended up being "eventful." Yuck! I thought is was going to happen again after lunch, but luckily nothing did. Tomorrow I will be 5 weeks pregnant. Seems crazy that we are that far in already and we have only known for a week. I am so ready to tell everyone, but I am really trying to wait until after my first appointment on Monday. I feel like everthing is going ok but I am still a little nervous. I am still getting used to the idea that there is a baby in my belly :)

Morning Sickness...

It doesn't just happen in the morning lol. I am learning that quickly. I have been nauseous the last couple days mid-day. Tonight I had my first full blown incident. Fun. It comes with the territory though, so it is worth it in the long run! Well, I am off the bed! Building a baby from scratch is awfully exhausting :)

Big News!

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A BABY!!! We can't believe it happened so fast! We are so happy! By my calculations, my due date is February 18, 2010. It is still very surreal. My confirmation appointment is next Monday, 6/22/09. We will have this blog set to private until I let my job know. I am planning on doing that sometime between this appointment and my next one (7/20/09). I am hoping that everything goes smoothly and they say everything is progressing nicely. It's just the strangest feeling. I have been so exhausted. I feel like I need a nap around 2:30pm everyday haha! I had a little nausea this afternoon, that was no fun. I have also had ALOT of soreness in certain upper regions lol. Other than that, it's been good so far. Brian and Jeanna both think we are going to have a girl. I am leaning that way too, but, I will be ok either way. I just want a healthy baby :)

Cookout

For the last few months, we have been going to these fun little neighborhood gathering. Just a few couple from the neighborhood getting together for drinks and some food. It has been great getting to know some of our neighbors. Well, it's our turn to host next. I am trying to figure out when we are going to have ours.We are thinking sometime in late June or early July. The last one was the first weekend in May. We are looking forward to hosting. I live for this stuff. It always makes me a little nervous whe we have people over for the first time. I am just so curious as to what they think of our place and everything we have done since we moved in 2 years ago. I also wonder what they think of our food selections, music preferences, etc. I have always been one not to care too much about what others think, but some times it would be nice to know lol.

Well, the hubby is upstairs working on repainting our master bedroom, so i better go join him :)

We have really enjoyed fixing our yard up. Brian got pretty into it and actually enjoyed it too :) I just love looking out the back window and seeing everything we have done. It feels much more inviting than it used to.

We have some baby birds in our big bush/tree off the back patio. I am pretty sure they are mockingbirds. They sure are hungry little fellas. They chirp a lot! haha! There is always a net in that same tree every year. I really think it is the same birds that keep coming back. This is what the babies have looked like in the past:
I haven't looked in there this year. I am always too afraid that I will get to close and the mom won't come back or that she will be in the nest and come after me!

Happy Anniversary to Us!!!

I can't believe it has been a year already! Wow, time flies. We have had a really great anniversary weekend. Friday night we went to Jared and I got something sparkly for my anniversary gift! It is a gorgeous vintage inspired cushion-cut amethyst ring. I was trying to find a picture of it to post on here, but they don't have it on their website. I goes really nicely with my wedding set. I love it!

Our dinner last night at The Magnolia Thomas House was fantastic! They did a great job on the rebuild. The food was great. We even had the same crab cakes they served at our wedding :) After dinner we wen to Publix and got cake slices (we didn't freeze our topper) and came back home. We drank champagne out of our toasting flutes and ate our cake and had a wonderful evening! Today is our actual anniversary, but it as been like a 3 day celebration!

Yesterday we went an picked out or storm door. Brian has been installing it for most of the day. It is so nice. The natural light that we get now is unbelievable. The only windows we have on the front side of our lower level are the sidelights next the the door, so it is a MAJOR improvement. We also got paint to re-do the upper half of our master bedroom walls. When we moved in 2 years ago we jumped the gun on painting and we have never really been able to find any bedding that we like that matches the paint. The top half was a really pretty light blue and the bottom was chocolate brown. Now the top half is being repainted in a light khaki-type of color called Sandstone Cove. We painted a color swatch on the wall before we bought the full sized can. I think it is going to look nice, and since it is more neutral, we will have more bedding options. I saw a set that I liked in the Macy's sale ad for this week. I think we will go check it out. We are both super-picky when it comes to bedding. So hopefully I will like it in person. They have it with pink sheets in the picture, but obviously we would go with something more neutral.

So Cute!!

How cute are these?! I love them! I was looking at the HGTV website (I love the Rate My Space section) and I saw these in a nursery on there. I googled the description and found the company that makes them. They are from a company called Doodlefish Kids. The pictures are priced at $189 each, whew! Steep! I think I could probably paint somehthing close to this easily. The frames are what really make it. That could be done too. All-in-all, an easy project when the time comes! Rate My Space is full of so many great ideas. We have a couple of rooms from our own house on the site.

We are so excited because Brian put in a bid on a pretty big job and they accepted it! Finally! He has actually been super busy lately so we can finally get a little relief from the month-to-month stresses that come along with having a household were one person is self-employed. Yay! I am fairly confident that we will be getting a storm door for our anniversary gift to each other since everything worked out. We have been wanting one so bad and it will be a nice practical gift.

I think that in addition to our anniversary dinner plans on Saturday night, we will be going to the Virginia Highlands Summerfest this weekend. We have wanted to go for the last couple of years, but there was always something else going on the same weekend, like our wedding :) Not quite sure if we will go on Saturday or Sunday. I'm thinking Saturday so we are not so rushed to get back for our reservations at 7pm. Either way, it is shaping up to be a good weekend!

HOT!

Wow... summer is most definitely here! It has been SO hot the last few days. It's only the beginning of June, so it will only go up from here. Brian has been crazy busy lately. The calls just keep coming in. It's great because we really need it!

So, this Sunday is our 1 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe it has been a year already. Time really flies. It seems like yesterday. We are going to the Magnolia Thomas House for dinner on Saturday night. They catered our wedding so it should be really nice. The restaurant just re-opened on May 15th. There was a fire last year about 6 weeks before our wedding. I just checked out the new menu online and it looks like they have the crab cakes we had at our wedding, yum! Check out the website, http://www.magnoliathomas.com

I am really looking forward to it! That's all we have planned for now, but who knows, the hubby may surprise me :)
